Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Parashuram, who is popularly known as the sixth manifestation (Avtar) of Lord Vishnu. Born in a Brahmin family, Parshuram was the fifth son of saint Jamadagni and Renuka. With a well built physique, he was a man of strength and immense power. On this, Lord Vishnu consoled her saying that he would end the Kshatriyas kingdom after taking birth as the son of saint Jamadagni. Keeping his words, the lord took birth in Jamadagni’s home and incarnated as Lord Parshuram to end the Kshatriya kingdom.

Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm by the Hindu community. This is one of the major days for the Hindu people and therefore, to celebrate Parshuram Jayanti, following activities are done on this day:

5. Now, do Prana Pratishtha by chanting Lord Ganesha's Mantra, it is believed that doing so invokes life in the lord's idol.
6. Offer and worship Lord Ganesha with 21 Modaks, 21 Durva grass leaves, incense sticks, coconut, Sindoor (vermilion), Kapoor (camphor), betel leaf and betel nuts etc.
7. Chant Ganesh Stotra.
8. Perform Aarti and bow in front of Ganesha's idol to seek his blessings.

AstroSage is once again back with one of its expert astrologer’s interview. Today, we will talk to ‘Shri Acharya Ram Hari Sharma’, who is extremely qualified in different fields of astrology such as Vedic astrology, remedial astrology, and Vastu. Let’s find out why he opted for astrology as his profession.

1. How did you get interested in astrology initially? What made you come into the field of astrology, as a profession?

My father is a very big scholar. When I was young, I used to see people coming to my father for finding solutions to their problems. He used to give them the right answer after some calculations. At that time, my father used to take the help of traditional methods. This thing developed my interest for it and I learnt how to use Panchang, from my father. Later, my passion for astrology increased and today, I am on this position.

2. What astrological system do you use and why?

Initially, I used to take the help of traditional methods taught by my father. Later, I started studying Dr. B.V. Raman’s ‘Astrological magazine’, regularly. After that, I studied this subject deeply and got the degree of astrologer from Jyotish Niketan, Meerut, in the year 1994. Today, I use almost every available method. But I found ‘Vedic astrology’, as the most accurate.

3. Any incident related to astrology in your life or your prediction, which created impact that you want to share with our readers?

The incident I am discussing here, happened when a child of 12 years was kidnapped from my village. During that time, I was not in the village. I was in Dibrugarh, Assam. The family members of the child asked my father about the returning back of the child. On this, my father told them that he will return back after 64 days. Even after 64 days, there was no news about the child and therefore, again they came to my father. My father told them that his son (me) was about to come and they should come after that to get the help. I studied the birth chart (Kundali) of the child in detail and made a precise calculation, as computer and software were not available, during that time. I predicted that the child is kept in a dark room and he is in the south direction, at a distance of 100 km - 150 km. I also predicted that he will return back to his home on January 1, 1995. They informed about it to the police. Police started searching for him in the same direction and in all the villages situated at the same distance. On January 01, 1995, police found the boy in a room of Dhaulpur village. I made this prediction on December 16, 1994, in my village. Even today, you can confirm about this incident in the Borpa village of Govardhan block in the Mathura district.

4. What are your suggestions for budding astrologers or for those who’re interested in this subject?

To, the soon to be or new astrologers, I would like to suggest that by taking the help of knowledge given in various astrological texts, they should apply the rules on the birth charts. Begin your predictions practice from the birth charts of your relatives, family, and friends. Keep trying different methods till you come on the right result.

5. According to you, which is the best astrology book that one should read?

My personal favorite book is Dr. B.V. Raman’s ‘My Experience In Astrology’. I would suggest that this book should be read by every astrologer.

Namaskar. Today, we are going to talk about Rajayoga. “Raja” means king in Sanskrit. Rajayoga in birth-chart does not mean that one is going to be a king. It means combinations for fame, success, and prosperity. Only any particular yoga cannot be termed as “Rajayoga”. There are several Yogas that come in this category. The more Rajayogas in your birth-chart, the more success and prosperity you will achieve.

A name is given to each Rajayoga so that we can memorize that combination easily. For example, if Moon and Jupiter are in Kendra to each other, it is called Gajakesari Rajayoga. If Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus or Saturn are in Kendra in their own sign or exalted sign, it is termed as Pancha Mahapurusha Yoga. 15 rules that I explained earlier are the basis of most of the Rajayogas and it is important you master those rules. Now, let me also talk about Parashariya Rajayoga. It is also called Kendra-Trikona Rajayoga.

If any Kendra-lord is related to any Trikona-lord, it is called Rajayoga. “Kendra” stands for 4, 7, 10 houses and Trikona means 5, 9 houses. First house is believed to be Kendra and Trikona both. As we discussed earlier, two planets can be related to each-other in three different ways:

1. Conjunction, i.e. to be posited in same house

2. Aspect, i.e. to influence each-other by aspecting

3. Exchange or Parivartan, i.e. to be posited in each-other’s signs

For Arians, Sun and Jupiter are owners of Trikona, i.e. fifth and ninth houses. If these planets are associated with the lord of 1st house i.e. Mars or lord of 4th house i.e. Moon or lord of 7th house i.e. Venus or lord of 10th house i.e. Saturn by the means of conjunction, aspect or exchange, it forms Parashari Rajayoga. The more such combinations in a chart, the more Rajayogas there will be.

Also, at times same planet rules Kendra and Trikona both. For Cancer ascendant, Mars forms Parashari Rajayoga because it is lord of Trikona i.e. 5th house and Kendra i.e. 10th house. Those planets that form Parashari Rajayoga are called Yogakaraka. Such planets give success, prosperity and fame during their periods.

Mother, An Epitome Drenched In Ocean Of Love

Today is Mother’s Day. Mother, the symbol of love, affection, and sacrifice, is placed above heaven. This is the day to honor and thanks our mothers for their unconditional love and support. Through this article by Pt. Hanumman Mishra, let us know how astrology defines mother.

Ninth house in the Kundali belongs to religion and twelfth house belongs to salvation. Twelfth being fourth from the Dharma house (ninth house), we consider it the house of heaven (the house of Moksha). 

In astrology, 4th house signifies birth place, mother, motherland, etc. Similarly, 5th house is associated with love, affection, and progeny. In the birth chart (Kundali), 12th house is also known as the house of heaven. As 4th house is 5th from the 12th house; therefore, it won’t be wrong to say that 4th house is the house of heavenly love - mother’s love. For this reason, scholars have said that heaven lies in mother’s lap. Even the Hindu god, Lord Ram has called mother and motherland more important than heaven. Because, without love even heaven seems like hell. 

Even astrology favors that mother is above heaven. On this earth, this is the only relation which is free from selfishness & impurity, instead it is completely pure. 4th house is associated with mental peace and calmness. This is also the house of mother, and the pure & true essence of mother’s love eliminates all the mental stress and discomfort. 

Twelfth house of the Kundali also signifies expenditure. In astrology, it is considered as the house for abroad too. In other words, this is the house that indicates your distance from home; hence, giving sufferings. This house i.e. the 4th house is associated with peace because it is the house of mother and mother shares a sweet, cordial, deep, and beautiful relation with her child. The bond that a mother shares with her child is like an ocean of eternal love. Undoubtedly, if one comes to seek help from a mother, he/she need not to express it, as mother knows it all. 

Every mother feels contented when she hears her child calling her ‘Maa’, for the very first time. This feeling is above all the worldly pleasures and desires. The purity of the term ‘mother’, gets confirmed from the fact that Hinduism refers Devi or Goddess as Maa or mother. In Christianity and Islam, Mother Mary and Bibi Fatimah (S.A.) are having a very important place, respectively. Therefore, there is no doubt in the fact that mother is above heaven and heaven resides in her feet. Every mother in this world has equal importance and is equally good. 

To honor mother and to thank her for her eternal love, not just one day, but even a decade is less. However, we celebrate Mother’s Day exclusively on one day; therefore, we offer a huge bunch of warm greetings to all the mothers.

AstroSage is once again back with an interview of an expert astrologer. Today, we will talk to our expert astrologer ‘VGR Pavan’, who is extremely qualified in KP astrology and marriage related predictions. Let’s find out why he opted for astrology as his profession.

1. How did you get interested in astrology initially? What made you come into the field of astrology as a profession?

I am an inquisitive person and always try to explore and find a system that can give great guidance to us. I had a fascination for occult significance and esoteric meaning of our scriptures or any other similar matter. I was fortunate to meet Sri E.Chandra Sekhar, during the year 2000. He initiated the fundamentals of astrology. Another boon for me is, his guidance in KP. I was a strong critic for this system at first, but later was convinced with its accuracy and simplicity. Slowly, I delved into this divine system and decided to accept it as my full time occupation. Honestly, I am proud of what I am doing and greatly indebted to my masters and Sri KSK (founder of KP).

2. What astrological system do you use and why?

No doubt astrology is a science, but we need to do a lot of labor to establish its universal applicability. We have 12 signs, 9 planets and 27 stars, as inputs. With these we need to frame predictions for all nativities and numerable questionnaire, which clients pose to us. Imagine the strain an astrologer take to offer a precise prediction. This results in bifurcations, modifications, distractions and elimination of astrological dicta forwarded by our ancestors. However, the respect or reverence for ancient sages restricted us from logical assessment of the facts. According to me, this is not what our sages expect from us.

For instance, Maharshi Parasara is said to be an authority par excellence. The celebrated author provided nine planets system for us. Varahamihira never mentioned about Rahu and Ketu, and emphasized on the seven planets system in his immortal Brihajjataka. Where do we find the respect for Mihira toward Parasara? The fact is that upgradation of knowledge is more important than reiterating the old saga. In recent times, KP is the most logical and empirical which satisfies as well as stands to test. KP followers will never hesitate to replace old rules with practical and concrete observations. These facts made me adopt KP as the streamline for my predictions. My well educated suggestion is to use horary map, as the base for prediction. It is more powerful than birth horoscope and offer great scope for accurate readings. I am not against the sages of yore. I respect and love them like all others, and I am also not against Vedic astrology and include it in my predictions at appropriate places. Are we using the same telephone which Graham bell invented? Aren't we upgraded from it?

3. Any incident related to astrology in your life or your prediction, which created impact and that you want to share with our readers?

Yes, on several occasions I came correct. The prediction about YSRCP leader Jagan’s separation from Congress Party in AP, is what I can show to the readers. They can find it in the archives of www.astrocamp.com. I would not add the list, as it may appear like self praising.

4. What are your suggestions for budding astrologers or for those who’re interested in this subject?

My friendly advice is to have own judgment of the available astrological literature. Don’t fall under the impression of the authors, just read everything yourself and note the worthy points. We should think loud and assume the role of a scientist in the laboratory. Never hesitate to deny a rule, if it failed to comply with facts. Always have an open mind and bold outlook.

5. According to you, which are the best astrology books that one should read?

Six volumes written by KS Krishnamurthi are the best available as per my opinion. They are also known as KP readers. It is not that you will get everything, but these monumental works will show a way for you. Everyone have their own way of valid interpretation is what I believe. Hence, these books may guide you to arrive at valid conclusions and rest depends upon your caliber. It is like learning the basics of paintings and later improving it with our skill.

6.What would you like to say to the users of AstroSage.com?

Narasimha Jayanti, is celebrated in honor of the fourth and most powerful Avatar (incarnation) of Lord Vishnu, Narasimha. The term Narasimha refers to ‘half man- half lion’, which means head of a lion and body of a man. As per the Hindu calendar, this day falls on the 14th day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaisakha. Narasimha Jayanti tells the importance of Dharma and concludes that Dharma always gains victory over Adharma.

Legend Of The Day

The legend of this popular day, takes us back to the story of the cruel king Hiranyakashipu and his son Prahlad. Hiranyakashipu was a powerful king who impressed Lord Brahma and got his favor. He got the desirable boon that, neither man nor any beast could kill him, he could not be killed during day or night time. It also included that he would remain unaffected by the attack of any weapon and could not be killed from inside as well as outside the house or any building.

Getting of this desirable boon resulted in increased cruelty, he started ruling the earth and the heaven. People were forced to worship and treat him like god. However, his own son Prahlad, was a passionate devotee of Lord Vishnu who didn’t followed the rules of his father.

Hiranyakashipu was used to get annoyed with Prahlad and he tried numerous ways to kill him. When all his efforts went in vain, he asked his sister Holika (who was resistant to fire), to sit in the flames of fire with Prahlad on her lap. This also went against Hiranyakashipu, his sister burnt while Prahlad remained unaffected. Hiranyakashyap got extremely angry and surprised, he asked Prahlad to show him Lord Vishnu.

On this, Prahlad said that Vishnu is omnipresent and thus, he is everywhere. This increased the king’s anger even more and he knocked down a pillar, asking if the lord was there too. As a matter of fact that pillar was situated neither inside nor outside the premises of the courtyard and it was the time of evening, which means neither day nor night time Those were the most suitable situations for killing Hiranyakashyap. As a result, Lord Vishnu came out from that pillar in the form of Narasimha and ended Hiranyakashipu’s life, by using his long and sharp nails.

Worship The Powerful Deity, Lord Narasimha

As this day is dedicated to the fourth manifestation of Lord Vishnu, who is Narasimha; therefore, Lord Narasimha is worshiped on this day. To worship the lord, devotees wake up in the Brahmamuhurta and take holy bath. With a clean body, mind, and soul, prayers are offered to the deity. While worshiping Lord Narasimha, an idol or image of Goddess Lakshmi is also placed. To conduct the Puja in the right way, it is must to have some fresh flowers, Kesar (saffron), Kumkum, Ganga Jal, rice, fruits, coconut, and sweets.

The rituals of this day says that sitting in isolation and chanting Narasimha Mantra, pleases the lord and helps in fulfillment of all wishes.

Narasimha Jayanti is a very big day for the devotees of Lord Vishnu. With utmost faith and devotion, they worship the lord and engage themselves in the rituals of the day. On this day, devotees are seen doing:

• Observing fast
• Conducting special Pujas and prayers
• Offering gram clothes, sprouted grains, and jaggery in temples and to the needy people
